TRIER, Germany, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Augst,2016) - Norway's Andreas Mikkelsen in a VW Polo-R raced into a narrow early lead at the German Rally on Friday before predicting he could only get stronger as the weekend progresses. The Volkswagen driver leads Belgium's Thierry Neuville by two seconds while overnight leader and defending world champion Frenchman Sebastien Ogier was in third around seven seconds off the pace. "I made a great deal of mistakes because of the way the engine was set up but with technical assistance over the midday break that will all be dealt with," said Mikkelsen.
The world champion seemed far from worried at this early stage despite the slippery and dirty roads that caused many to slide and crash. "Even if that wasn't the best special for me, I only lost a little time, nothing serious," Ogier said. One man who did have serious worries was Jari-Matti Latvala, who suffered gearbox failure after just 13km and is out.
