Surrey Inflict More One-day Pain On Gillespie's Yorkshire

LONDON, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -29th Augst,2016) - Surrey are on their way to Lord's for the final of English county cricket's One-Day Cup after a victory on Sunday over Yorkshire at Headingley. For Jason Gillespie's side the defeat meant semi-final heartache for the second straight season -- they were beaten in the last four by Gloucestershire in 2015. Steven Davies's hundred and 90 from Ben Foakes took Surrey to 255 for seven in their 50 overs. Former Australia fast bowler Gillespie then saw Surrey paceman Stuart Meaker take three wickets in nine balls to stop Yorkshire's chase in its tracks, with ex-England all-rounder Tim Bresnan's 68 not enough to prevent a 19-run defeat.
Surrey, beaten in last season's final by Gloucestershire, will face the winners of Monday's second semi-final between Warwickshire and Somerset in the September 17 showpiece match at Lord's. "Very disappointed to lose today," tweeted Gillespie, who has guided Yorkshire to back-to-back first-class County Championship titles. "We have made strides in the short forms.
There is room for improvement. Well played Surrey."
