LISBON,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Augst,2016) - A 35-year-old Briton was to appear in a Lisbon court Wednesday to face an extradition request over the murder of a six-year-old boy in England in 1994, police said. The suspect, who was not named, was to attend an extradition hearing at the Lisbon Court of Appeal, they said. He was arrested in the Portuguese capital on Tuesday under a European arrest warrant issued by Britain.
Detained in April by the British police but released on bail, he fled to Portugal in June. The case concerns the death of a boy named Rikki Neave, whose strangled, naked body was found in a patch of woodland close to the child's home in Peterborough, eastern England, in November 1994. His mother, Ruth Neave, 26 at the time, was initially suspected of the murder but was cleared.
She later received a seven-year term for child cruelty and negligence.
