RIYADH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jul, 2025) Conjoined Jamaican twins Azaria and Azura arrived in Riyadh for a critical evaluation to determine the possibility of a separation surgery - an initiative directed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in a display of medical diplomacy and humanitarian commitment.
According to the KSrelief on Tuesday, the twins were flown to Saudi Arabia aboard a medical evacuation aircraft provided by the Saudi Ministry of Defense. Upon landing at King Khalid International Airport, they were immediately transferred to King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital at King Abdulaziz Medical City under the Ministry of National Guard, where a specialized medical team began a thorough assessment of their condition.
Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), and head of the surgical team, lauded the Kingdom’s leadership for their humanitarian vision.
“This generous initiative reflects not only Saudi Arabia’s world-class medical expertise but also its global humanitarian role, especially in helping children facing life-threatening conditions,” he stated.
Dr. Al Rabeeah emphasized that the Kingdom’s medical teams have successfully performed dozens of conjoined twin separations, positioning Saudi Arabia as a global leader in the field.
The twins’ parents expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Kingdom’s swift action, warm hospitality, and overwhelming kindness. “We are deeply thankful to the government and people of Saudi Arabia for welcoming us with open arms and for giving our daughters a chance at life,” the family said.
The medical evaluation in the coming days will determine whether the separation surgery is viable offering renewed hope for the twin girls and their family.
