OIC Chief Congratulates Uzbekistan For The Successful Presidential Elections

JEDDAH, Dec 9 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Dec, 2016 ) - Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his election as the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Dr. Al-Othaimeen expressed the hope that bilateral cooperation between the OIC and Uzbekistan, an important member of the organization and the current Chair of the Council of Foreign Ministers, would further be consolidated in the coming years.
Upon the invitation of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, a delegation of observers from the OIC General Secretariat monitored the presidential elections, which held on Sunday.
The OIC observers were able to monitor various stages of the polling process.
They also met with several senior Uzbek stakeholders and was briefed on the voting process as well as on some new significant changes to improve the election regulations further and guarantee more free participation of the citizens into the elections.
The OIC delegation observed the election was peaceful, well organized, transparent and free with the massive turnout of voters to exercise their political and civil rights in a disciplined manner.
