Anti-polio Drive In Five Districts Begins

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th August, 2016) : The 3-day anti-polio drive in five districts of the province as part of the Sub National Immunization Day started here. Talking to APP here on Monday, Director Immunization Dr Munir Ahmed said the drive would target around 3.5 million children of under five years of age in DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Multan districts.
He said that Punjab would make all-out efforts to achieve the target, adding that coordination with districts had been made to ensure complete preparations that included micro-planning, meetings of district management, vaccine supply and mapping of population at greater risk to polio virus.
It was learnt that National Emergency Action Plan for Polio Eradication was being implemented in letter and spirit.
Dr Munir Ahmed requested parents to ensure their children get anti-polio drops. He said parents may also take their children to vaccination centers where staff was available to vaccinate for nine vaccine preventable diseases as well. He said in case of teams not visiting the area, parents could contact the helpline 0800-99000 during the campaign days.
