APHC Denounces Property Confiscations In IIOJK As Part Of State-led 'settler-colonial' Agenda

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has issued an urgent warning regarding the escalating trend of property seizures and home demolitions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, describing these actions as a calculated tool of collective punishment.
In a detailed statement, APHC Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt asserted that the Modi administration is weaponizing land and property laws to suppress the indigenous movement for self-determination and silence voices demanding justice.
According to the Hurriyat leadership, the ongoing confiscations of homes, agricultural lands, and businesses are not isolated incidents but represent a systematic effort to dispossess Kashmiris of their livelihoods and future. Butt characterized these measures as the centerpiece of a settler-colonial agenda aimed at altering the demographic character of the region.
He noted that by targeting the economic foundation of the local population, the occupying authorities hope to weaken the resolve of a people who remain committed to their political identity.
The APHC statement emphasized that despite the intensity of the current crackdown and the use of draconian legislation to justify these seizures, the spirit of the Kashmiri people remains unbroken. The leadership maintained that physical intimidation and the destruction of private property cannot extinguish the long-standing quest for freedom.
The spokesperson further argued that the international community has a moral and legal obligation to intervene, as the current campaign constitutes a serious violation of international law and human rights standards.
As the situation in the valley remains tense, the Hurriyat Conference has called on global powers and human rights organizations to look beyond official narratives and recognize the reality of demographic engineering on the ground.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will continue to resist all attempts to erase their heritage and will persist in their struggle until a just and lasting resolution is achieved.
