Reports suggest that Sardar Sher Baz has been handed over to Serious Crimes Investigation Wing on two-day physical remand for investigation

QUETTA: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 21st, 2025) Balochistan High Court (BHC) Chief Justice Rozi Khan Barrech on Monday took suo motu notice of the brutal killing of a man and woman in the name of honour in Balochistan and summoned the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the Inspector General of Police on July 22.

The heinous murder, allegedly committed under the pretext of honour, was caught on camera and widely circulated on social media, prompting public outrage. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to the complainant, the killers filmed the incident and shared it on social media, spreading fear and panic among the public.

The accused named in the FIR include Shah Wazir, Jalal, Tikri Munir, Bakhtiar, Malik Ameer, and Ajab Khan. The case report states that tribal elder Sardar Sher Baz Khan had issued a so-called “verdict” declaring the man and woman as guilty of committing “kari-karo” (an accusation of immoral conduct) and ordered their execution.

After the verdict, the victims were taken in vehicles to the Sangdi-Degari Margat area and were shot dead. Over 20 suspects have so far been arrested.

The police sources said those arrested include the main suspect Bashir Ahmed, Sardar Sher Baz Satakzai — head of the Satakzai tribe — his four brothers, and two personal guards. The reports suggested that Sardar Sher Baz was handed over to the Serious Crimes Investigation Wing on two-day physical remand.

The case has now been handed over to the Serious Crimes Investigation Wing for further probe.

The police confirmed that two individuals are seen firing in the viral video, Jalal and Bashir, have also been arrested. Jalal has been identified as the brother of the murdered woman.
