
Low Flood In Sutlej Breaches Bund, Crop Area, Several Rural Hamlets Affected

BUREWALA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) A low level flood in Sutlej river caused a breach in the flood protection Bund
in the suburbs of Burewala at Mauza Gulab Shah, affecting vast tracts of
crop-cultivated area besides several rural hamlets, cutting the people from
land routes.
The villages affected included Pindi Jatera, Basti Omar Khan Khichchi, Basti
Shameer Khan Ajera, Basti Khokhraan, Basti Mianwali, Raju Shah, Budhan
Shah and some others.
Flood waters have entered homes of villagers. With land routes submerged,
dozens of families are finding themselves trapped with flood waters around
and the situation was also creating hurdles in rescue efforts.
People of the area,
however, have refused to leave their homes and belongings behind but appealed
the authorities concerned to extend help.
Responding to the situation, acting deputy commissioner Vehari Babar Suleman,
assistant commissioner Burewala Capt (R) Arshad Iqbal, revenue staff and
Rescue 1122 teams visited flood-affected areas to help people and issued
instructions to shift the people stranded in riverine belt to safer places.
The administration has also issued an alert for the people to be safe.
