Billions Being Spent On Model Bazaars, Beautifying Cities Across Multan Division: Commissioner

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Multan Division Amir Kareem Khan on Tuesday said that projects worth billions were under execution across Multan division targeting beautification of cities with conversion of existing markets into model bazaars being the key component to enable citizens enjoy shopping in a hassle-free atmosphere.
He said this during a meeting he chaired to review the ongoing progress on model bazaar schemes and upgraded civic facilities.
DC Khanewal Maleeha Rasheed informed the meeting that three big model bazaar projects were under execution in Jahanian and Mianchannu tahsils involving an overall cost of Rs 933 million. These included a model bazaar in Jahanian being developed at a cost of Rs 150 million and 50 per cent work stood completed, she said adding that a pedestrian model bazaar in Mianchannu was also under execution at a cost of Rs 146 million and 20 per cent work completed. Moreover, a pedestrian model bazaar in Khanewal city was under execution under a Rs 647 million project and 18 per cent work stood completed. The 742 meters long bazaar would have 299 shops and parking spaces sufficient for 200 vehicles. The 650-feet long Jahanian model Bazaar would have 130 shops with parking facility for 50 vehicles while 965-feet Mianchannu Bazaar would have 155 shops with parking spaces for 100 vehicles.
DC Lodhran said that a sum of Rs 84 million was being spent on main Bazaar Railway Chowk beautification project and 35 per cent work had been completed. The 0.21km long bazaar would complete by June 30, 2026.
Deputy Commissioner Multan Nauman Siddiq said that beautification projects being executed in the city of saints targeted roads rehabilitation, footpaths and parking development and other civic facilities.
DG MDA Rashid Irshad said that Rs 360 million was being spent on unpgradation of 0.61km Brands Road. Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Iqbal Khan informed that a sum of Rs 658 million had been received for rehabilitation of road from Clock Tower Chowk to Hussain Agahi. He added that road from Clock Tower Chowk to Motorcycle Market would cost Rs 131 million while road up to historical Masjid Nawab Ali Muhammad would cost Rs 77.8 million.
In Vehari, 300-meter Rail Bazaar and 200-meter Goal Chowk beautification project would cost overall Rs 150 million, DC Vehari informed the meeting.
Commissioner Khan ordered that the projects be completed on time without compromising on quality of work and materials.
