MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2025) The Civil Society Forum has raised strong concerns over prolonged power outages and deteriorating service delivery by the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO), particularly in the Gulgasht Subdivision of Musa Pak Division.
In a joint statement, Forum President Dr Irfan Ahmed Piracha, Chief Executive Khawaja Zia Siddiqui, and Central Convener Dr Humayun Shehzad expressed deep dissatisfaction with MEPCO’s performance. They criticised the persistent unresponsiveness of senior MEPCO officials, including the Executive Engineer (XEN) and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Gulgasht, and alleged that the complaint cell was non-functional and that relevant officials remained unreachable.
Residents of Zakariya Town, Gulshan Mehr Colony, and surrounding areas have been grappling with hours-long unscheduled power outages, compounding their frustration in the scorching heat. The Forum slammed the MEPCO top management’s silence and failure to address consumer grievances, terming it completely unacceptable.
The Civil Society Forum has urged higher authorities to take immediate and decisive action to resolve the crisis and restore accountability within the utility company.
