PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Nov, 2016 ) : Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed for taking all necessary steps to ensure admissions in Nowshera Medical College in the light of the decision of Peshawar High Court so that precious time of the students could be saved.
The Chief Minister has asked the students to contact joint admission committee Khyber Medical College so that they can be registered for admission properly. He directed for commencement of classes that should be announced as soon as possible.
He issued these directive in light of the decision of Peshawar High Court for ensuring admission and other facilities to students, fulfilling all the criterion based facilities for recognition of the medical college by PMDC.
It is pertinent to note that recognition and admission of Nowshera Medical College had been in doldrums since 2014. The PMDC had been using delaying tactics in recognizing and starting admissions in the college despite availability of building for the college, hostels, required faculty and other requirements.
The college administration had also deposited Rs.
21 lac to PMDC as its fee while students were facing difficulties due to non allowing the college to admit them by PMDC. The students of the college had challenged the delaying tactics of PMDC in Peshawar High Court in January this year.
Today, during hearing of the case, Peshawar High Court expressed anguish over the delaying tactics in recognition and admissions by PMDC and asked the PMDC not to play with the lives of the students.
The court had also summoned President and Secretary PMDC on November 30 for next hearing while it had issued directives for initiation of admissions. The court had also directed to fulfill other deficiencies required for recognition of the college.
The Provincial government had asked students to contact joint admission committee so that classes could be started according to the decision of the court. It merits a mention here that the public sector Nowshera Medical College will have 150 seats wherein hundreds seat will be for MBBS while the rest 50 will be for dentistry.
The Chief Minister issued directives for fulfilling all requirements needed for the recognition of the college.
