KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th August, 2016) : Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that he is committed to restore Karachi as city of lights but all this would be possible when every citizen, irrespective of their socio-political or religious affiliation would come over and play their due role.
"Yes, I need your help, Karachi is our home and it is our collective responsibility to keep home neat and clean." This he said while talking to media over a break-fast of `chaie- and anda paratha' at tea-house set up along the Empress market just after taking an extensive round of the city, particularly the low-lying area, the main roads and different localities and issued necessary directives to the administration Saturday morning.
He was accompanied by his principal secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch and Commissioner Karachi Aijaz Khan. Chief Minister said that he was well aware of the issues of this city because "I was born here.
I have rode my bike on the roads of Karachi and have travelled in passenger buses," he said and added that when he was student of NED university and his point (students bus) used to take route from Kalapul , Mahmoodabad, Chanisar halt, Shahrah-i-Faisal, Civic Center to University Road.
"I know this city and love this city," he remarked. Chief minister said that he was quite worried about the people because of continuous downpour from the last night. "I was in touch with Commissioner and Administrator Karachi to drain out the accumulated rain water from the roads and low lying areas.
He said that he also talked to Managing Director of K-Electric to restore electricity from the areas where feeders were tripped," he said added that again in the morning he was on the roads as was the workers of the local bodies.
Chief Minister directed Commissioner Karachi, Administrator Karachi to activate all the deputy commissioners, DMC administrators to be in the field along with their workers.
"I want to see your workers doing working in the field and also activate your complaint cells," he said. When a reporter asked him a political question, the Chief Minister showed him the wall of the tea-house where it was written in bold letter `political discussion is forbidden.' "I am sorry dear if I discussed political issues here the managers of the tea house may file a complaint against me," he said in lighter mood. A resident of Saddar area told the Chief Minister that there was power break down in their area from early morning.
On this the Chief Minister in presence of the media talked to MD KE from his cell phone and urged him to restore electricity as soon as possible. Syed Murad Ali Shah said that he would personally keep an eye on development works, municipal services, traffic issues and environmental and such other issues affecting day-to-day life.
"We have planned to lift garbage from the city in a very comprehensive way and it would be started shortly," he said. The Chief Minister during his visit to the city strictly forbidden police mobiles in his protocol from playing the hooters. "During my travelling or visit hooter would not be played at all," he urged.
