Commissioner Issues Show-cause Notices To Poorly Performing Contractors Under Suthra Punjab
Umer Jamshaid Published July 27, 2025 | 05:20 PM

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2025) In a meeting chaired by Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan, deputy commissioners expressed serious concerns over inefficiencies under the “Suthra Punjab” initiative here on Sunday.
They recommended issuing show-cause notices to underperforming contractors and terminating inactive monitoring officers. Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan said that “Suthra Punjab” is the flagship initiative of the Punjab government, and no negligence in fulfilling public expectations will be tolerated. On his directions, the CEO of the Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) ordered show-cause notices to contractors in four tehsils of the division.
The meeting resolved that there would be zero tolerance in sanitation standards across both urban and rural areas. Worker shift hours have been discontinued to ensure uninterrupted cleanliness. It was also decided that no leniency would be shown moving forward.
Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan instructed the deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners to closely monitor daily activities and take strict action against unsatisfactory performance.
He said that SWMC monitoring officers were being provided with motorcycles and GPRS-enabled SIMs to ensure their activities are effectively tracked.
The meeting also reviewed flood preparedness, enforcement of official sugar prices, and actions taken against violators. He warned that, according to PDMA forecasts, the fifth monsoon spell expected next week could be severe, and all precautionary measures must be completed in advance.
He also directed authorities to make elaborate arrangements for “Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir” on August 5, as well as the upcoming Independence Day and “Ma’raka-e-Haq” celebrations in a dignified and memorable manner.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Capt (R) Muhammad Waseem, Director Development Bilal Hassan, CEO SWMC Rana Shahid Imran, and, via video link, Deputy Commissioner Khushab Farwah Amir, Deputy Commissioner Mianwali Khalid Goraya, and Deputy Commissioner Bhakkar Muhammad Ashraf.
