PFA discards 230 litre adulterated milk, 55kg expired fruits

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2025) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified operation against substandard food units across South Punjab and discarded 230 litre adulterated milk and 55 kilogram expired fruits.

Acting on the directions of Director General Muhammad Asim Javed, food safety teams carried out inspections in Multan, Khanewal, and Vehari, targeting bakeries, sweet shops, milk vendors, water plants, and restaurants.

The teams imposed heavy fines and sealed two production units for violating food safety standards. A water filtration plant on Shujaabad road, Multan, was sealed after its water sample failed laboratory testing. In Khanewal, a bakery located at Bhutta Chowk was shut down due to the presence of a washroom inside the production area

and Rs 50,000 each fine was imposed on a beverages plant and cold store (rotten fruits) in 17 Kassi, Multan.

A Rs45,000 fine was imposed on a bakery near Al-Falah Market, Multan, for using expired spices and unidentified ingredients; Rs 25,000 on a milk shop at Chungi No. 9, Multan, for selling low-quality milk; Rs 45,000 on a restaurant at Mana Morr, Burewala, for using monosodium glutamate (China salt) and poor hygiene conditions;

Rs 15,000 on an ice factory at Adda Luddan for the presence of insects in the production area and contaminated ice blocks.

Similarly, Rs 12,000 fine each was imposed on a grocery store at Sabzi Mandi, Burewala, for selling expired tea leaves and a food outlet in Mailsi for selling expired consumables.

Likewise, a Rs 25,000 fine was imposed on a milk collection center on GT Road, Mian Channu, for selling adulterated milk.
