
Commissioner Orders Improvement In Waste Management

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2025) Divisional Commissioner Maryam Khan has directed sweeping reforms and immediate accountability within Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) to improve sanitation and public hygiene across the division.
Chairing a meeting to assess the overall cleanliness situation and performance of the waste management system, she said that negligence, inefficiency or dishonesty in sanitation services would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
She expressed concern over gaps in performance and issued firm directives for immediate corrective measures.
She ordered the cancellation of contracts with underperforming contractors and warned that monitoring officers found guilty of negligence or misconduct would be terminated.
She also directed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) FWMC to personally visit all districts within the division to evaluate sanitation conditions on the ground. She also assigned tasks to assistant commissioners to identify poorly maintained areas through geo-tagging.
She stressed that door-to-door waste collection must be ensured at 100 percent coverage and garbage disposal should be timely with visible cleanliness in every street and neighborhood. She directed strict daily monitoring of field staff attendance and performance with mandatory submission of field reports.
She highlighted the need for technology-driven solutions and called for the use of modern machinery, real-time supervision and a responsive complaint resolution mechanism.
She reiterated the importance of "Clean Punjab" initiative and declared it a top public welfare project. She warned that any lapse in its implementation would be dealt with sternly as divisional administration is committed fully to provide a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents of the division.
Additional Commissioner Aamir Raza, CEO FWMC Raoof Ahmad, and Additional Deputy Commissioner General Captain (Retired) Tayyab Sami were also present in the meeting while Deputy Commissioners of Chiniot, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh participated via video link.
