CPEC to change economic, security paradigm of Pakistan: Dr Naushad

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th August, 2016) : Pro-Vice Chancellor Islamia College Peshawar University, Prof Dr Naushad Khan said Monday China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPEC) was the life line and game changer project that would change the economic paradigm of the country. He said CPEC had given new heights and dimension to Pak-China diplomatic relationship.

With completion of CPEC, Pakistan would be safe from external threats as well, he told APP. He said KP and Balochistan would largely be benefited from the CPEC. These would increase the per capita income of people besides generating employment opportunities for people of the entire region, he added.

The enhanced communication networks increase pace of development and trade activities, he said. Dr Naushad said JF-17 Thunder aircraft that was co-developed by Pakistan and China was an excellent example of defence cooperation between the two countries.

JF-17 Thunder aircraft is an all weather multi-role fighter jet with the capability to carry out air-to-air and air-to-ground strikes and can be fitted with beyond-visual-range (BVR) missiles. Dr Naushad said JF-17 aircraft has made Pakistan's defense impregnable. Dr Naudad Khan who is also the dean of social sciences Islamia College Peshawar said ever growing Pakistan and China diplomatic and economic relations have touched new heights of friendship during tenure of PMLN government and this relations would further grow under China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPEC) between the two brotherly countries.

He said the $46 billion Chinese investment under CPEC had clearly reflected the Beijing''s confidence in the economic policies of the present elected government. Dr Naushad Khan said in today's era of globalization and communication, no country can live in isolation and the CPEC would not only bring people of Pakistan and China more closer but would provide excellent opportunities to landlocked Afghanistan and Central Asian States (CARs) to find out new global markets and avenues by spending very less amount through Gawadar seaport. He said Gawadar Port after completion would help Afghanistan, CARs and China to use the warm water of Pakistan for exporting their products to world markets, ultimately generate employment opportunities and business activities in Pakistan. He suggested exchange of delegations of intellectuals, media persons, artists and civil society besides cultural exchange programmes and arrangement of special training courses for students at colleges and universities level to learn Chinese and urdu languages that would make people of both countries more closer.
