Defence Car Accident: ATC Indicts Afnan, Father

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2025) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday formally indicted Afnan and his father, Shafqat, in a high-profile case involving a car crash that claimed the lives of six members of the same family in the Defence area.

ATC Judge Irfan Haider presided over the proceedings, during which both accused appeared before the court.

Upon the reading of the charges, the duo pleaded not guilty and announced their decision to contest the allegations.

Following their indictment, the court adjourned the hearing until August 22, summoning prosecution witnesses to record their statements in the upcoming proceedings.

The case was registered at Defence C police station on the complaint of Rafaqat Ali, who lost six of his family members in the fatal incident. The victims included his wife Rukhsana Bibi (45), son Husnain (25), daughter-in-law Ayesha (23), son-in-law Sajjad (30), grandson Huzaifa (4 months), and granddaughter Anaya (4).

According to the investigation report, Afnan was accused of harassing female passengers prior to the collision. His father, Shafqat, a real estate dealer by profession, was allegedly responsible for allowing his underage son to drive without a license.
