LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Oct, 2025) A delegation of the Punjab Agriculture Department, led by Punjab Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, visited China.
According to a press release issued here on Thursday the visit was undertaken in line with the vision of the Punjab Chief Minister to modernize the agriculture sector.
The delegation included Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Usama Khan Leghari, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo and other senior officers.
During the visit, the delegation met with Chinese technology firms, agricultural machinery manufacturing companies and agricultural universities besides signing four different Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs).
Under the agreement with 'Pycet Technology Company', crop monitoring would be carried out through a modern satellite-based system, covering all stages from sowing to harvesting.
This system would enable monitoring of cultivated areas, pest and disease surveillance, timely fertilizer application, and yield estimation.
Through the introduction of satellite technology, artificial intelligence and advanced monitoring methods, the Punjab Agriculture department aims to enhance crop cultivation, productivity, and quality.
Under another MoU, 'Defeng Company' expressed its interest in establishing a tractor and harvester manufacturing plant in Punjab through joint collaboration between the Punjab Agriculture department and the private sector.
Furthermore, under the third and fourth MoUs, a Chinese Agricultural University would assist the Punjab Agriculture department in developing high-quality seeds and would establish a Center of Excellence for Advanced Agricultural Research in the province.
Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said,"Use of modern technology in agriculture is indispensable and the Punjab government through the Agriculture department is transforming the agricultural sector in line with contemporary global standards."
