Diwali To Be Celebrated On Monday Across Pakistan With Traditional Fervor

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Oct, 2025) Like other parts of the world, the festival of lights, Diwali, will be celebrated on Monday, across Pakistan with traditional enthusiasm and religious fervor. Members of the Hindu community have completed preparations to mark the occasion with prayers, lighting of lamps and festive gatherings.
The festival symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. According to Hindu tradition, Diwali marks the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and his triumph over the demon king Ravana.
People illuminated their homes with earthen lamps to welcome him, a practice that continues to this day.
In different parts of the subcontinent, Diwali also honors Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, while in Sikhism it coincides with Bandi Chhor Divas, commemorating Guru Hargobind Ji’s release from imprisonment.
This year’s theme, “Light Over Darkness Unity Through Harmony,” highlights the message of peace, tolerance, and togetherness among communities. Temples and community centers across Pakistan will hold special prayers and cultural events to mark the occasion.
Authorities have ensured security measures and extended greetings to the Hindu community, wishing them a joyous and peaceful Diwali.
