Governor Mandokhail praises PM’s youth laptop scheme as gateway to digital empowerment

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) Governor of Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, lauded Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s visionary Youth Laptop Scheme, describing it as a landmark initiative to empower students across the province.

Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony at BUITEMS University, he emphasized that thousands of laptops are being provided to students in public universities, enabling them to connect with the rapidly evolving world and meet modern educational demands.

Governor Jaffar Mandokhail acknowledged the role of Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, in increasing Balochistan’s laptop quota from 10 to 18 percent. He expressed gratitude to both the Prime Minister and Rana Mashhood for their personal commitment to securing a brighter, digitally literate future for the province’s youth.

Highlighting further opportunities, the Governor announced upcoming training programs in Quetta through Tang International education Pakistan and the National University of Technology Islamabad. These programs will offer nearly 100 trades in technical and vocational fields, with certified diplomas to equip trainees with modern skills and career prospects.

Jaffar Mandokhail urged students to make full use of the laptops, not only to enhance their knowledge but also to collaborate with peers and transform aspirations into reality. He underscored the transformative role of technology, noting that humanity has witnessed three major revolutions of agricultural, industrial, and information technology and is now entering the era of artificial intelligence and robotics.

“Laptops are a gateway to new educational possibilities and online employment opportunities. Thousands of resources are just a click away, and students must seize them to elevate their intellectual and professional horizons,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Durrani, Parliamentary Secretary for Excise Muhammad Khan Lehri, Vice Chancellor BUITEMS Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Principal Secretary to the Governor Abdul Nasir Dotani, and a large number of university students.
