
Govt Plans To Spend Rs 25 Bln On Road Sectors: Iqbal Channar

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22th july, 2016) : Provincial Minister for Co-operative Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar has said that Punjab Government has planned to spend more than 25 billion on road sector under its medium term development framework.
He made these remarks while inspecting different on-going road constructing schemes in different areas which include Halqa Baqirpur, Saahlan, Jhok Rahim Bukhsh in district Bahawalpur. Malik Iqbal Channar further said that under medium term development framework Rs.
7 billion and 900 million in the fiscal year 2016-17, Rs. 8 billion and 500 million in fiscal year 2017-18 and Rs. 9 billion in the fiscal year 2018-19 would be spent to construct a modern and efficient road network in the Punjab province.
"As many as Rs.
4 billion on new road construction schemes while Rs. 3 billion and 800 million have been earmarked for on-going road construction schemes in the Punjab province", Minister Malik Iqbal Channar maintained.
Iqbal Channar also said that a modern road infrastructure has been envisioned in which the roads having width of 20 feet would be expanded to that of 25 feet which have the road load of 800 vehicles per day while those roads which have the road load of 8000 vehicles per day would be upgraded to 2-way transport arteries in the province.
He said that this road up-gradation and modernization process would meet the transport and communication demands of the modern age.
