ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2025) Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik on Thursday said that Pakistan's economy was recovering steadily and key indicators were moving in a positive direction.
Speaking to a private news channel, he said that the government was committed to broadening the tax net and boosting exports, particularly in the IT and agriculture sectors.
He said that the ongoing economic reforms under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership were yielding positive results.
“Our IT exports have shown notable growth, while rice exports have increased by 84%,” he said.
He said the Federal board of Revenue (FBR) was undergoing critical reforms, and the prime minister was holding regular meetings to accelerate tax reform efforts.
Expanding the tax base and enhancing exports are crucial for achieving sustainable development, he added.
Commenting on the political environment, he criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for spreading negative propaganda, both nationally and internationally.
“If PTI considers itself a political party, it should engage in dialogue with other political parties instead of damaging Pakistan’s image globally,” he added.
He said PTI’s actions have not only hurt the country’s economy but also harmed its diplomatic standing.
