HW&SC's Workers Union Claims Citizens Being Supplied Unfiltered Water

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Oct, 2025) The Mehran Workers Union of Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation (HW&SC) has warned the citizens that the filtration plants of HW&SC were supplying them improperly filtered and unchlorinated water, posing threat to their health.

In a statement issued here on Saturday the union's General Secretary Muhammad Aslam Abbassi cautioned that the corporation's claim of following the World Health Organization's (WHO's) standard in the water filtration was unfounded. He claimed that the chlorinators installed in all the filtrations plants of HW&SC were nonfunctional for many years while no chlorinator was installed at the newly established Hussainabad filter plant.

Abbassi deplored that the workforce of the HW&SC continued to work without salaries and arrears.He urged the Sinch Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Haider Shah to order inspection of all the filtration plants in Hyderabad by technical experts to unearth the truth about the water filtration process.
