IHC adjourns PTI Founder, Bushra Bibi's appeals in 190 Million Pound Case until May 20

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the appeals filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his wife Bushra Bibi against their conviction in the 190 million pound reference, granting a final opportunity for arguments.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the case. NAB Special Prosecutors Javed Arshad and Rafaq Maqsood appeared before the court on behalf of the National Accountability Bureau.

However, Barrister Salman Safdar, counsel for the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi, did not appear. His assisting counsel, Sarmad Munib, appeared before the court instead.

The assisting counsel submitted a request for adjournment, stating that the petitioners sought more time.

A miscellaneous application seeking postponement of the case, on the court's direction, was read out.

NAB Prosecutor Javed Arshad opposed the adjournment request, questioning that who has filed this appeal? Frequent meetings with PTI founder are being sought. What is happening?" He further said that now this matter should also come in the media.

At this, counsel Shoaib Shaheen interjected, saying that Is the case to be conducted here or in the media?

The court, despite NAB's opposition to the adjournment, approved the request made by Barrister Salman Safdar to postpone the case.

The IHC granted a final deadline for arguments on the appeals. The bench then adjourned further proceedings until May 20, directing the counsel to prepare for arguments on the main appeals.
