IIUI, Moroccan Varsities Vow To Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Moroccan universities have vowed to boost bilateral cooperation in the fields of academic, scientific research and training by inking Memorandums of Understanding for dissemination and exchange of knowledge. The IIUI's MoUs with Hassan II University Casablanca - Morocco and Sidi Mohammad Ben Abellah University, Fez, Morroco were signed here at Faisal Masjid campus on the occasion of visit of a Moroccan delegation of universities' representatives.
Honorable Ambassador of Morocco to Pakistan was also present on the occasion. The MoUs were signed in the presence of varsity's Rector, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. The delegation included Omar Assobhei, President, University of Fez, Driss Mansouri, President, University Hassan II in Casablanca and Abdelilah Benmlih, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Sciences Dhar El Mehraz. Both sides agreed that avenues of bilateral cooperation in the fields of Islamic studies, Shariah and Law and faculty exchange will be explored.
It was also agreed that collaboration and exchange of research materials related to joint academic and research projects will be initiated through a well-devised roadmap. Both sides were keen for organizing joint ventures for promotion of education upon which top leaderships bilaterally vowed that steps for holding conferences, seminars, lectures and workshops in the fields of mutual interest will be taken as soon as possible. Driss Mansouri, President, University Hassan II in Casablanca termed the agreement a landmark to achieve academic excellence.
He looked forward to promote cooperation and exchange of ideas in pursuit of education and learning in diverse areas of science, humanity, Islamic Studies, capacity development and training.
He also apprised about the universities in his country and said that as many as 0.8 million students were enrolled there in the higher education.
He said that his university was keen to work with IIUI on the vital topics such as solutions for intolerance and promotion of moderation. Omar Assobhei, President, University of Fez, hailed IIUI for its services to Muslim world and said that his university is looking forward to enhance mutual cooperation with IIUI in various disciplines. Earlier, upon receiving the delegation at varsity's new campus, Dr.
Masoom Yasinzai said that universities are growth engines for vibrant economy of the country. The IIUI Rector emphasized that equitable access is key to academic excellence and same is being pursued by IIUI.
"There should be no compromise on quality when it comes to education" he added. He also briefed the delegation regarding education scenario of higher education since inception of Higher Education Commission (HEC). Dr Al-Draiweesh said MoUs would not only be cooperation between the universities but would further strengthen relations between the two countries.
"Our doors are open for cooperation with all educational institutions of the world," he said. He also briefed the delegates about IIUI's faculties, institutes, academies, varsity's achievements and efforts for promotion of islam's message of peace. At the new campus, delegation also met with university Vice President, Deans and Directors.
Later, a luncheon was also hosted by IIUI management in the honour of Moroccan delegation.
