
IMAC Launches Arbitration Training In Multan To Promote ADR

The International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (IMAC), established by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan, launched a two-day training on arbitration at the High Court Bar Association Multan to equip lawyers with modern dispute resolution skills and promote the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2026) The International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (IMAC), established by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan, launched a two-day training on arbitration at the High Court Bar Association Multan to equip lawyers with modern dispute resolution skills and promote the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in Pakistan.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen ADR in the country as a practical solution for reducing court backlog and improving access to timely justice.
The opening ceremony was attended by Fayaz Hussain Khan Lagari, General Secretary, High Court Bar Association Multan, as the Chief Guest, along with Registrar IMAC Ehsan Ullah Khan, Gulfam Hameed, Additional Director, Ministry of Law and Justice, Barrister Mian Sheraz Javaid, and Malik Aneeq Ali Khatana, as well as a large number of lawyers from Multan and surrounding districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Registrar IMAC Ehsan Ullah Khan said that arbitration and mediation are increasingly becoming essential components of modern justice systems. He stressed that efficient dispute resolution is critical for economic growth and investor confidence. Through IMAC, the Ministry of Law and Justice is working to strengthen institutional ADR in Pakistan and equip lawyers with the skills required for modern arbitration practice,” he said.
The Chief Guest Fayaz Hussain Khan Lagari appreciated the initiative of the Ministry of Law and Justice and IMAC for organizing professional training programmes for lawyers.
He remarked that Arbitration is gaining global importance as a faster and more effective way of resolving disputes. Such training programmes are extremely valuable for lawyers who wish to expand their professional expertise and contribute to improving access to justice.
Barrister Mian Sheraz Javaid, Lead Trainer and an international arbitrator, highlighted the importance of developing practical arbitration skills among legal practitioners to meet the evolving demands of domestic and international dispute resolution.
The first day of the training focused on the strategic relevance of ADR and arbitration in Pakistan. Participants attended sessions on Introduction to ADR in Pakistan and the Role of IMAC, Arbitration in Pakistan – Legislative Framework, and Drafting Arbitration Agreements and Common Drafting Pitfalls.
The training is bringing together lawyers and legal practitioners from Multan and nearby districts, providing them with practical exposure to arbitration procedures and professional best practices.
IMAC continues to organize such programmes across Pakistan as part of its mission to promote mediation and arbitration, strengthen professional capacity, and support the development of a modern and efficient dispute resolution system in the country.
