KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2025) Extended Program on Immunization Sindh, has achieved another milestone in digitizing and strengthening the immunization system by providing 1000 Android smartphones to newly inducted vaccinators.
According to EPI press release, these smartphones (Nokia G22) were provided to the vaccinators under the Sindh Electronic Immunization Registry (SEIR) with the technical and logistical support of the World Health Organization (WHO). The purpose is to enhance real-time vaccination monitoring, ensure timely data transmission, and improve tracking of defaulters at the field level.
The SEIR system was initially piloted in selected districts in 2014 and is now fully operational across all 30 districts of the province.
In 2024, the Department of Health integrated the SEIR system into the regular government budget, ensuring its sustainability and institutionalization.
The handing-over ceremony was made possible through the special support of Dr. Mukhtiar Bhahyo, Head of Sub-Office WHO, under whose leadership WHO provided these 1,000 high-performance smartphones. The devices are compatible with the SEIR platform, EPI Pakistan App, campaign data tools, and surveillance checklists, and are capable of operating in offline mode as well.
The Department of Health Sindh, EPI, and partner organizations remain fully committed to leveraging digital technology to ensure every child in Sindh receives timely and complete immunization.
