KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th july, 2016) : Karachi Gymkhana Veterans beat Omar Gladiators Veterans by 31 runs in a festival cricket match played at Karachi Gymkhana Cricket Ground.
The match was organized by Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association. Karachi Gymkhana after winning the toss elected to bat and scored an impressive 211 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allocated 25 overs. S.M.
Sameer was the top scorer with 60 runs made in only 36 balls with 1 six and 6 fours. Saleem Parekh made quick unbeaten innings of 39 runs in 35 balls with 3 fours. Azhar Khan scored 27 and Agha Arsalan 22 runs not out. For the Omar Gladiators Veterans Amir Hameed took 2 wickets for 14 runs and Fawad Ijaz Khan took 2 wickets conceding 55 runs.
Skipper Nadeem Omar and Rashid Ali took one wicket each for 44 and 14 runs respectively.
Omar Gladiators could only score 180 runs in 24.3 overs. Skipper Nadeem Omar and Fawad Ijaz Khan opened the innings and put on 38 runs for the opening partnership.
Fawad scored 20 runs and Nadeem 16. Fayyaz Ahmed scored 46 runs in just 21 balls and former ODI player Sajid Ali scored 32 runs in 27 balls. For Karachi Gymkhana Akhtar Muneer, Kamran Hussain and Altaf Agha took 2 wickets each conceding 41, 38 and 24 runs respectively. At the conclusion of the match a prize distribution ceremony was held.
Mr. Nadeem Omar Franchisee Owner of Quetta Gladiators gave the Man of the Match Cup to S.M. Sameer, Best Batsman Cup to Fayyaz Ahmed and Best Bowler Cup to Altaf Agha.
