'Kisan Package To Help Boost Agriculture Sector'

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july,2016) : The Kisan package worth Rs 100 billion announced by the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would pave way for the uplift of agricultural sector and raise the living standard of farmers in the province.
These views were expressed by the speakers including Member Parliamentarians Dr Nisar Ahmed Jutt, Mian Farooq Ahmed, Sheikh Ijaz Ahmed, Agriculture Scientist Ch Abid Mahmood and DCO Salman Ghani at Kisan convention held at Ayub Agriculture Research Institute Faisalabad on Tuesday.
EDO agriculture Ch Abdul Hameed, DO agriculture and large number of farmers from the Faisalabad division participated in the convention. The speakers said the government was making all-out efforts to address the problems of farming community and to flourish the agricultural sector by making it profitable business. They said that this package was a result of series of meetings and consultations of all stakeholders held during last three years. This package would reduce input expenditures of the small farmers and their agriculture land would be converted into profitable units, they added. They urged the farmers to use modern agriculture technologies, certified seeds of crops, balance use of fertilizers, pesticides and water for getting better yield.
They said that agriculture sector was a backbone of country's economy and a source of employment for millions of people in rural areas. Agriculture Scientist Ch Abid Mahmood urged the farmers to apply modern agriculture techniques in their fields which would help them to get good produce. He said that last year, new varieties of wheat seeds were provided to farmers selected through balloting but from next year new variety seeds would be provided to select farmers at each village and they would be bound to supply the seed to other farmers from next crop. DCO Salman Ghani said the Punjab government had taken a number of measures for the promotion of agriculture and resolving the problems of farmers on priority basis besides elimination of substandard and adulterated pesticides. He said that small agriculture clusters would be set up at village level with the help of parliamentarians where all necessary guidance would be provided to farmers. Earlier, EDO Agriculture Ch Abdul Hameed highlighted the features of Kisan package and persuaded the farmers to avail maximum benefits of the package.
