KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2026) In a vibrant display of environmental commitment, plantation drives were actively carried out across Kohat on Pakistan Day, aiming to contribute to the provincial government’s ambitious target of planting one million saplings in a single day. The initiative was widely supported by officials and citizens alike.
The campaign, launched under the visionary “Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” programme, seeks to address pressing environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, and declining green cover, while promoting sustainable practices across the region. Activities were conducted simultaneously at multiple locations, reflecting a coordinated effort.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir stated that climate change has significantly exacerbated issues including water scarcity, reduced soil fertility, and rising air pollution. He emphasized that tree plantation is a practical and effective step, therefore helping mitigate environmental degradation and improve public health outcomes.
He further reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to ensure the campaign’s success through all possible measures, moreover encouraging public participation. During the events, saplings were planted at various sites, and participants pledged to continue their efforts for a greener and healthier Pakistan.
