KP Irrigation Deptt. Launches Awareness Campaign Against Waterway Encroachment

CHARSADDA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2025) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigation Department on Sunday launched an awareness campaign to address the issue of illegal constructions along province's waterways.

The department began displaying banners alongside various canals and rivers, urging the public to refrain from building near these vital water channels and to voluntarily remove existing encroachments.

The campaign aims to educate citizens about the dangers posed by such constructions, particularly in light of potential monsoon rains. By encouraging removal of these structures, the department hopes to mitigate flood risks and safeguard lives and property.

Deputy Commissioner Charsadda, Dr. Azmatullah Wazir, echoed the department's message, warning property owners against the "malpractice" of encroaching on riverbanks. He emphasized that strict legal action would be taken against anyone who establishes illegal constructions in these areas.
