Marghazar Zoo To Be Expanded, Upgraded: Tariq Fazal

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th july, 2016) : Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Monday said the Marghazar Zoo, the only zoo of the Federal Capital, would be expanded by adding 60 acre more land. Briefing to the Senate's Standing Committee on Cabinet Division, he said the zoo would be upgraded according to international standard.
More animals, including giraffes and dolphins would be added to the zoo, he added. Dr Tariq said the administrative control of the zoo would be handed over to private sector for its smooth functioning.
He said the Federal government was considering to approach the Sri Lankan government for a female elephant. The committee members said Kawan, male elephant at the zoo, was ill and should be sent abroad for treatment. The committee meeting was held here with Tallah Mehmood in the chair and attended by snators Tanvir, Kalsoom Parveen, Raheela Magsi, Tahir Hussain Mashaddi and Yousaf Badini.
