No visit by the chief minister or prime minister is private, nor do they take holidays, Punjab government spokesperson Kausar Kazmi said.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Sep, 2026) A new debate has erupted among journalistic and political circles over Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s visit to London, her daughter’s graduation ceremony, the use of an official aircraft and claims regarding private holidays. A heated discussion took place on a talk show between prominent anchorperson Mansoor Ali Khan and Punjab government spokesperson Kausar Kazmi regarding the nature of the chief minister’s trip.

Mansoor Ali Khan asked, “Since Maryam Nawaz went to London as chief minister, has she held any formal meeting there for Punjab? If I say that she had some secret meetings, would it be appropriate to write that?”

Punjab government spokesperson Kausar Kazmi replied, “If you think she sat at home in London before her daughter’s graduation ceremony and did nothing else, that is not correct.

As for the secret meetings, you may say that—I am not saying it. No visit by a chief minister or prime minister is private, nor do they take holidays, even if they personally say otherwise. The aircraft she travelled on is the Punjab government’s own plane.” Concluding the debate, Mansoor Ali Khan sarcastically highlighted the contradiction between the official narrative and reality, saying that the issue actually begins with whether the visit should be called private or official.

If it is described as private, the immediate question will be why she travelled on an official aircraft. Perhaps that is why, while discussing the visit, it becomes necessary to add a Punjab-related angle and create the impression that meetings were held.
