ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Nov, 2016 ) : The National Assembly Wednesday passed a resolution strongly denouncing unprovoked Indian firing at the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary (WB) and brutality on innocent Kashmiri people in the Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
The resolution moved by Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid in the House called on the international community to stop bloodshed of innocent Kashmiris. The resolution said: "We, the representatives of the people of Pakistan strongly denounce the Indian escalation of the situation at the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary (WB) in an effort to divert the international attention from the grim situation in IoK".
"We also condemn the continued, unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces at the LoC and WB, resulting in the loss of innocent precious lives, including women and children and injuries to many others, in complete violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding", it said.
The deliberate targeting of a civilian bus carrying women and children, in the Neelum Valley of AJK on 23 November 2016, resulting in deaths of 11 innocent civilians and injuries to six others was indeed deplorable, it added.
The resolution said India's lack of cooperation and limited access to UNMOGIP (to fulfill its mandate i.e. monitoring the ceasefire violations and ensuring peace and tranquility at the LoC and WB, in accordance with UN Secretary Council resolutions was appalling.
The people of Pakistan, it said, "applaud the bravery and unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their befitting response to Indian ceasefire violations and call upon the United Nations Security Council to take immediate notice of the provocative Indian actions and statements that are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to strategic miscalculations.
"We condemn the brutal, unabated use of force by the Indian occupation forces in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the death of more than 150 innocent people and severe injuries to more than 16000, with many in critical condition.
"The use of pellet guns by the Indian occupation forces has resulted in severe eye injuries to more than a thousand people, including women and children and permanent blindness of hundreds of people.
"We are deeply concerned over the arrest and detention of the Hurriyat leadership, human rights activists, journalists and other political activists and urge the Indian government to release them immediately.
The courage and perseverance of the valiant people of the Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir for continuing their heroic struggle in the face of the worst Indian state terrorism is commendable. "The people of Pakistan stand united in solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for the realization of the right to self determination.
"We reject the Indian claim that the Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir is its integral part and urge the Indian government to immediately stop terrorizing the innocent people of Kashmir and fulfill its human rights obligations, as well as its commitments, under the UN Security Council resolutions.
"Pakistan calls upon the international community to play its due role in stopping the bloodshed of the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring peace and tranquility at LoC and WB."
