NEST Expands Arts & Design Scholarship Slots

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2025) In a remarkable step towards supporting creative education, the National Endowment Scholarship for Talent (NEST) has expanded its scholarship slots for students of arts and design.

The scholarship initiative, which had previously awarded only 40 slots until 2023, increased its allotment by 35 additional slots in 2024, bringing the total to 85 beneficiaries.

According to data provided by SU’s Students’ Financial Aid Office, the year-wise distribution shows that in 2021, ten students received a total of Rs 519,000, while in 2022, forty students were awarded scholarships amounting to Rs 2,144,000. In 2023, twenty students benefited from a total disbursement of Rs 906,800, and in 2024, fifteen students received Rs 835,500 under the NEST scholarship program.

According to the SU spokesperson, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalil-ur-Rehman Khoumbati distributed the scholarship cheques among the deserving students of the Institute of Art & Design on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khoumbati appreciate the initiative taken by NEST for nurturing young talent in arts, design and now, artificial intelligence.

“The expansion of this scholarship program not only reflects a commitment to creativity but also aligns with the emerging demands of technology-driven design fields,” he said.

The students and faculty of the Institute expressed their gratitude to NEST and the university administration for their continued support in promoting higher education in the creative arts.

On the occasion, PVC Sindh University Main Campus Prof Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, Registrar Prof Dr Mushtaque Ali Jariko, Director Institute of Art & Design Prof Saeed Ahmed Mangi, Qamar Nangraj, Abdul Rafay Memon and others were also present.
