KHANEWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jan, 2026) Police have arrested the main accused and recovered weapon within four hours in connection with the shooting and robbery of a man near Bridge 137, bringing some facts of the case to light.
The crime occurred late Saturday night in the limits of Thatta Sadiqabad police station when 50-year-old Muhammad Iqbal of Chak 137/10-R was shot and robbed near Bridge 137, close to Chak 139 Town. He was seriously injured and initially shifted to THQ Hospital Jahanian before being referred to Nishtar Hospital, Multan. The assailants escaped after snatching Rs 400,000 in cash.
Police said the money was being carried for wedding arrangements. Muhammad Iqbal was returning home from Tibba Sultan Pur with his wife and daughter when the incident took place.
Following the incident, police launched an immediate investigation on the directions of DPO Khanewal Ismailur Rehman Kharrak.
Under the supervision of DSP Jahanian Malik Abdul Majeed and SHO Thatta Sadiqabad Malik Sarfraz Bhambar, the police team traced the case within four hours and arrested the main accused, Muhammad Waseem of Chak 137/10-R, besides recovering the pistol used in the crime. An unidentified accomplice is still at large.
During investigation, police found that the accused wanted to marry the victim’s daughter, but the family had refused the proposal. Police said the accused acted out of personal resentment and opened fire on Muhammad Iqbal before fleeing with the cash.
A case has been registered at Thatta Sadiqabad police station on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Ashfaq Ahmed, against Muhammad Waseem and his unidentified accomplice.
