LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th August, 2016) : A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Monday dismissed a petition seeking directions to stop implementation of death warrants of three convicts. The bench, headed by Justice Abdul Sami Khan, heard the petition filed for stopping implementation of death warrants of Ateeq-ur-Rehman, Muhammad Bashir and Azhar Bashir. Earlier, the petitioners' counsel, arguing before the court, submitted that Ichhra police registered a case against the convicts for kidnapping Azam Market Trader Zahid Hussain for ransom in 2000 and an anti-terrorism court awarded death penalty to them in 2003 after declaring them guilty.
He said that after dismissal of their appeals by the apex court and the president, the sessions court had issued death warrants of the convicts for Tuesday, August 16. But, now the complainant and the abductee had pardoned the convicts, he said and requested the court to stop implementation of the death warrants of convicts.
However, the bench after hearing arguments dismissed the petition and directed the heirs to approach the judicial magistrate concerned if the convicts were pardoned by the complainant and the abductee.
