LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Lawyers Forum Punjab has described the Federal Budget 2026-27 as the best possible budget under the prevailing economic circumstances, saying it strikes a balance between fiscal discipline and public welfare.
Speaking to APP on Friday, PML-N Lawyers Forum Punjab President Rana Zafar Iqbal said the budget was balanced and people-friendly, adding that the measures announced by the government would not only further strengthen economic stability but also place the country on a path of sustainable growth.
He welcomed the allocation of Rs3 trillion for defence, stressing that Pakistan could not afford to overlook its defence requirements in view of security challenges, including threats from India.
Rana Zafar also praised the allocations made for water, energy and road infrastructure projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), saying the initiatives would generate employment opportunities and accelerate economic activity across the country.
Highlighting the importance of the construction sector, he said it played a pivotal role in the national economy as numerous industries were directly linked to it. He expressed confidence that withholding tax reductions and other incentives announced in the budget would provide a significant boost to the sector.
The PML-N Lawyers Forum president said the federal government had demonstrated its commitment to poverty alleviation by earmarking Rs838 billion for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), along with introducing other relief measures aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
He further appreciated the reduction in tax rates for the salaried class and welcomed the incentives announced for serving and retired government employees in the budget.
