
Police Devise Strategy To Control One-wheeling

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th August, 2016) : Rawalpindi district police have devised a new strategy to control one-wheeling while special squads have also been formed which would be deployed on different roads in the city. According to police spokesman, now police personnel in plain clothes would keep an eye on one wheelers and strict action in accordance with the law would be taken against the violators.
Under section 99-A of Motor Vehicle Ordinance, six months to two years imprisonment with a fine amounting to Rs 5000 to 10,000 would be imposed on one-wheelers. Stern action in accordance with Section-279 of Pakistan Panel Code may also be taken.
City Police Officer Rawalpindi Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi on the directive of Chief Minister Punjab, has issued instructions to all SHOs in the city to supervise operations against one-wheelers and take action against the violators without any discrimination.
All out efforts would be made to end enhanced activity of one-wheeling by youngsters on the city roads.
The increasing trend of one-wheeling by youngsters has claimed several precious lives and a number of youngsters have also suffered serious injuries. He said, one-wheelers are not only playing with their own lives but are also a threat for other road users that is why stern action would be taken against them. He urged the citizens particularly the parents to come forward and play their role to curb the activity as one-wheeling, rash and negligent driving are the main causes for fatal accidents. Nowadays, youth are seen driving the bikes at break-neck speed, without caring for their lives.
They should desist from this killing practice as it is in their own interest.
