Police Harass Abdul Sattar Edhi's Grandson

Karachi, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th July, 2016) : Late renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi’s grandson was made allegedly subjected to torture by police in Sir Syed Town. Ahmed Sattar claimed that police harassed and tortured him during routine checking when he was returning home.
But a senior police official, on condition of anonymity, said police do not target him of harassment or violence, but let him go after routine questioning. He said that Edhi's grandson was sitting in a car parked on raw soil in Sir Syed Town, on which police officers inquired and then he was allowed to go after he has been identified.
Inspector General (IG) of Sindh police, AD Khwaja, took notice of the incident, and ordered DIG west to investigate the incident and report. DIG west suspended 3 policemen after the incident. A few days ago, Abdul Sattar Edhi died of kidney disease at the age of 88 in Karachi.
His funeral was paid at the National Stadium, Karachi in tight security attended by many political and social leaders including President Mamnoon Hussain and the three chiefs of Pakistani Forces. Abdul Sattar Edhi was buried with state honors.
