LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th july, 2016) : The Lahore High Court has ordered the upgradation of the posts of 'Guards' in Pakistan Railways. Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan passed these orders while allowing 18 petitions filed by Abdul Ghafoor and others. In its detailed order issued here on Monday, the court asked railways authorities to comply with orders within three months. Earlier, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the railways authorities did not upgrade scales of the guards proportionately as compare to the categories of others employees. They said that two guards had been upgraded on orders of the LHC single bench but the authorities refused to extend benefits of the order to rest of the guards.
They pleaded the court to order authorities concerned for the upgradation of guards' posts. But, the respondent's counsel opposed the request and submitted that the petitions were not sustainable.
He said that the Apex Court had deprecated the tendency of upgradation to benefit a particular individual. However, the court rejected the stance of the respondent counsel and allowed all petitions with directions to upgrade the posts of guards.
