Railways Upgrades Lahore Railway Station With Modern Facilities

The Pakistan Railways has revamped the Lahore Railway Station with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance passenger comfort and convenience, following directives from Railway Minister M Hanif Abbasi

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2025) The Pakistan Railways has revamped the Lahore Railway Station with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance passenger comfort and convenience, following directives from Railway Minister M Hanif Abbasi.

According to PR spokesperson Babar Raza, the upgrades cater to diverse passenger needs and elevate the station’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.

A new Commercially Important Person (CIP) lounge, designed exclusively for business and premium class passengers, has been introduced with a seating capacity of 70. Additionally, two fully air-conditioned waiting halls have been established, accommodating 250 passengers in total. These include a family hall with 100 seats, a dedicated female hall with 70 seats, and a male hall with 80 seats.

To ensure passenger comfort, two water coolers have been installed at platforms 2 and 4, providing clean and cold drinking water.

Accessibility has also been improved with the addition of four escalators at platforms 2 and 4, facilitating elderly passengers, women, and those with heavy luggage.

The station’s commercial and visual appeal has been enhanced with six new fiber-model stalls at platforms 2 and 4. The main porch has been transformed into a family waiting area, equipped with three chiller air conditioners, two modern washrooms, an LED TV, and a family-friendly environment.

Further upgrades include an ATM in collaboration with Habib Bank for passenger convenience and SMD screens at the main porch to display real-time train arrival and departure information.

These improvements reflect Pakistan Railways’ commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and prioritizing passenger satisfaction.
