Rs 3 bln to be spent on improving sewerage, water supply schemes

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Nov, 2016 ) : Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Multan Managing Director Rao Muhammad Qasim said on Friday that Rs 3 billion would be spent on improving water supply and sewerage system in the city during the next three years under the Punjab Cities Governance Improvement Project (PCGIP).

While presiding over a meeting to review the schemes to be executed during the fiscal years 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19, he gave technical approval of 65 schemes. These schemes included 49 sewerage schemes, to be carried in sewerage sub-division Eidgah, Garden Town, Gulgasht, Hassan Parwana, Mumtazabad, New Multan, Qasimpur, Suraj Miani and Willayatabad and 16 water supply schemes, to be executed at central, south and north water supply sub-divisions, says a release, issued here on Friday.

The MD Wasa said that a comprehensive plan was ready to improve sewerage and water supply system in the city and completion of the schemes would solve problems being faced by the citizens. Deputy Managing Director (Finance) Malik Muhammad Naeem Khokhar, Director Works Sheikh Munir Akhtar, deputy directors Asif Javed, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Shahzad Munir, Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Irfan, consultant specialist Asif Iqbal, Mirza Noor, Shahzeb Sanwal, Muhammad Haseeb, Farrukh Iqbal and others attended the meeting.
