Sanitation situation worsens in Bakhtawar Colony Qasimabad

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2025) A severe sanitation crisis has gripped Bakhtawar Colony in Qasimabad, where heaps of garbage, and filth from clogged drains have made life miserable for residents.

The sanitation staff of Pak Atlas, the waste management contractor, has been absent for the past 15 days, resulting in the accumulation of waste across streets, lanes, and public areas.

Frustrated by the worsening conditions, residents staged a protest against the negligence of Pak Atlas and the indifference of local authorities.

The protest was led by Noor Ahmed Panhwar, Asad Lashari, Councillor Aftab Buledi, Dr. Abdul Aziz Rustamani, and others, who raised slogans and demanded urgent action.

Speaking to the media, Councillor Aftab Buledi stated that despite repeated attempts to contact Pak Atlas representative Saddam Abro over the past two weeks, no action has been taken to address the issue.

"Bakhtawar Colony has turned into a dumping ground, and people are falling ill due to the unhygienic conditions," he said.

Residents reported a rise in mosquito infestations, unbearable stench, and the spread of communicable diseases, warning that children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to health risks.

Protesters called upon Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro and Union Council Chairman Asif Shoro to take immediate notice of the situation.

They demanded accountability for Pak Atlas's negligence and urged the authorities to initiate legal and administrative action.

The residents also appealed for urgent deployment of tractor trolleys to clear garbage from the area and restore a regular and effective sanitation system, allowing citizens to live in a clean and healthy environment.
