MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2025) The Crime Control Department (CCD) of the Multan Region carried out three separate armed encounters in Khanewal, Vehari, and Multan, arresting and neutralizing several suspects involved in serious criminal activities on Saturday.
In Khanewal, the CCD team was patrolling the Eastern Bypass when they received a tip-off via the emergency helpline 15 that four armed individuals were robbing commuters near 28 Mor. As the CCD team approached the location, the suspects opened fire on the police vehicle. The CCD officers retaliated in self-defence, and during the exchange of fire, two suspects were injured and subsequently arrested. The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Hamza and Habib Hassan, both residents of Chak 21/8R, Tulamba. According to officials, the suspects were involved in multiple cases of robbery, vehicle theft, and other serious offenses.
Meanwhile, in Vehari, the CCD team was conducting a routine patrol when they encountered three armed suspects hiding near a forested area, allegedly planning a robbery. Upon sighting the police, the suspects opened fire, prompting the CCD personnel to return fire. One suspect, later identified as Waris Ali of Chak WB/21, was injured and taken into custody, while the other two managed to escape toward DHQ Hospital.
Officials said the arrested suspect was wanted in several cases of robbery and theft. A 30-bore pistol was recovered from his possession.
In Multan, the CCD responded swiftly to an emergency call by a citizen named Abu Bakar, who reported that five armed individuals had stolen two cows, one calf, and one buffalo at gunpoint from Bungalow Wali Pull near Moza Lailipur and were fleeing towards the Southern Bypass. Acting on the information, the CCD set up a blockade near Sohni Dharti Bridge. When the suspects’ vehicle appeared, the police signaled it to stop. However, the suspects exited the vehicle and opened fire on the CCD team.
In the exchange of fire, two suspects were critically injured and died on the spot. They were identified as Khadim Hussain, a resident of Todarpur, Shujabad, and Muhammad Riaz, a resident of Chah Peepal Wala, Moza Chadhar, Multan. Two 30-bore pistols were recovered from the scene. According to police record the suspects were involved in a number of serious crimes, including armed robbery, vehicle and livestock theft, burglary, and snatching. A spokesperson for the CCD said that the department remains committed to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and will continue operations against criminal elements across the Multan Region.
