KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2025) Pakistan Customs foiled a smuggling attempt and seized over 3 kilograms of marijuana (weed) being transported from Balochistan to Karachi via passenger bus.
According to a spokesperson for Customs on Tuesday, acting on a tip-off regarding a possible attempt to smuggle weed into Karachi, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Customs intensified inspection of incoming buses and coaches from Balochistan at the Check Post on the RCD Highway.
During a thorough search, a passenger bus bearing registration number BTA 988 was stopped, and a carton and a box disguised among packets of dates and chips were examined.
Officials recovered 13 plastic containers filled with marijuana (weed) weighing approximately 3.16 kilograms with an estimated market value of Rs 6 million.
A passenger named Arif, in whose luggage the contraband was found, was immediately taken into custody. The seized drugs have been officially confiscated by Customs staff.
A formal case has been registered against the suspect. Authorities have obtained his remand from the competent court and further investigation is underway.
