WoW Campaign Hailed

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th August, 2016) : Women hailing from different walks of life have appreciated Women-on-wheels (WoW) campaign, initiated by Chief Minister's Special Monitoring Unit (SMU) to empower them to run their own transport publicly, during an auspicious ceremony, organised at the Multan Tea House here Saturday. Country head of a private school Munazza Numan told APP that the initiative would reduce women's dependence on their men and close kin.

She said though it might be difficult for society to accept the 'sudden change', it would help improve women's confidence on a whole.

Sadia Samreen, a local teacher, appreciated the WoW project as it would enable women to play an important role in society as per their requirements.

Raheela Abid, a housewife, said that the plan would help women reclaim their rightful space in the public sphere. Sadia Ashraf, a student of a private university, termed the project an effective means to shatter the conventional mindset that had barred women from moving out of their houses for their needs. The WoW campaign has been expanded to 36 districts of Punjab and Multan is the fourth city where the SMU has inaugurated the campaign.
