122,772 Combing Operations Carried Out Under NAP

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Augst,2016) : The Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have carried out 122,772 combing operations so far under National Action Plan (NAP) while 142,335 suspects were arrested.
Of the total, the LEAs conducted 56,834 combing operations in Punjab, 39,485 in Sindh, 21,087 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 2,935 in Balochistan, 653 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 996 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), 310 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and 472 in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Besides conducting 2,012,765 Stop and Search Operations, around 4,230 Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) were carried out and 119,794 calls were received at Helpline 1717. NAP is a manifestation of national consensus and the government would ensure its swift implementation to eliminate terrorism and extremism. The government has also decided to constitute a NAP's Implementation Committee which would be headed by National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua with other members including Secretary Interior, Director General National Counter Terrorism Authority, provincial secretaries, Inspector Generals of Police, home secretaries and an Additional Secretary of PM's Office. The Committee will also be assisted by a representative from each of the intelligence agencies while the military will be represented by Director General Military Operations (DGMO). As per statistics regarding implementation of NAP since launch of its 20-point, total 1,808 terrorists have been killed and 5,611 arrested. As per details, about 951 of terrorists were killed in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA), 455 in Sindh, 197 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 135 in Punjab, 68 in Balochistan and two in Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
Majority of terrorists were arrested in Sindh, KP and FATA where their number was 1665, 1572 and 1256 respectively. In order to establish Special Trial Courts, 11 courts have been notified while funds had been provided for National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) with allotment of premises for it.
Joint Intelligence Directorate (JID) was also being established. Similarly, in order to curb terrorist financing 498 First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered under Hawala Hundi (FIA) and 692 accused were arrested.
As part of Anti-Money Laundering measures, the authorities concerned registered 230 FIRs and captured 341 persons while 126 accounts belonging to banned organizations with accumulated deposits of over Rs one billion have been frozen. Proscribed organizations had been categorized with 43 as violent against the state, 12 as non-violent but anti-state and seven as armed but not anti-state. Regarding religious persecution data had been collected from different sources to prepare proposals for policymakers. Again thanks to collective approach of the government, 69 per cent decrease had been registered in incidents of target killing, 50 per cent in murders, 80 per cent in incidents of terrorism and 30 per cent in robberies after start of Karachi operation. On matter of Balochistan reconciliation dialogue with exiled Baloch leaders have been initiated while 625 fararis have surrendered to authorities and the government is in contact with estranged Baloch nationalists.
