All major rivers flow normal: FFC

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd September, 2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said all main rivers including Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. According to daily FFC report the river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1544.07 feet and 1236.35 feet respectively, which are 5.93 feet & 5.65 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.

The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 13.148 MAF as compared to last year's 14.039 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave still persists over Kashmir and a fresh Westerly Wave lies over Northern parts of Iran.

Weak Seasonal Low continues to prevail over upper Balochistan.

As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments of all major Rivers including North- Northeastern Punjab i.e.

Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions, besides, D.G. Khan Division during the next 24 hours. Significant rainfall events reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours include; Lahore (Jail Road=97 mm, Lukshmi=88 mm, Samanabad=86 mm, Taj Pura=70 mm, Shahi Qilla & Misri Shah=66 mm each, Iqbal Town=64 mm, Mughal Pura=62 mm, Gulshan Ravi & Punjab University=54 mm each, Upper Mall=40 mm, Johar Town=35 mm, Gulberg=30 mm, Shahdara=28 mm & Airport=21 mm), Ravi Syphon=60 mm, T.T.

Singh=39 mm, Layyah=36 mm, Chakwal=16 mm, Sargodha (City=14 mm & Airport=12 mm), Talhatta=13 mm, Kalam=11 mm and Phulra=10 mm.
